Despite the all-consuming success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which was boosted this past weekend by an IMAX debut, The Odyssey passed two massive box-office milestones of its own. Now having played in theaters worldwide for three full weeks, the epic fantasy film surpassed the coveted $1 billion mark at the global box office, and a day later, overtook The Dark Knight Rises to become the highest-grossing hit of director Christopher Nolan's illustrious career. Nolan now has three films in the billion-dollar club, with The Odyssey having found a spot for itself among the 50 highest-grossing movies of all time. Starring Matt Damon, the film is also nearing a major domestic box-office milestone and has now passed arguably the best-regarded movie in the Star Wars franchise.
