Snoop Dogg Movie Casts Huge Euphoria Star as Warren G

Snoop Dogg’s upcoming biopic has found its Warren G, revealing its latest major cast addition. Universal Pictures is set to release the movie nationwide on August 6, 2027.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Algee Smith will play Warren G in Snoop, based on the life and career of the entertainment mogul and rap icon. Smith is best known for his role as football player Chris McKay in the HBO drama series Euphoria. The actor has previously featured in BET’s The New Edition Story miniseries as Ralph Tresvant. He also portrayed Larry Reed in the 2017 historical crime drama Detroit.

Smith’s credits also include the 2018 acclaimed coming-of-age drama The Hate U Give, the 2016 thriller The Gates, the 2023 sports drama Shooting Stars, and many more.

Warren G, born Warren Griffin III, is a Grammy-nominated rapper and record producer who stands as one of the most prominent figures behind the rise of West Coast hip-hop in the 1990s. The artist played a pivotal role in Snoop Dogg’s early career, forming the trio 213 alongside Nate Dogg and introducing Snoop to Dr. Dre, who went on to mentor him.

Who else is starring in the Snoop Dogg biopic movie?

It was previously announced that Jonathan Daviss will portray Snoop Dogg in Snoop. The actor is best known for playing Pope Heyward in the popular Netflix drama series Outer Banks and has also appeared in Edge of the World and Do Revenge.

Additionally, Myles Bullock Be is set to portray the acclaimed rapper and record producer Dr. Dre in the upcoming biopic. Meanwhile, Camron Jones will star as the late West Coast hip-hop icon Tupac Shakur. Finally, ATL star Lauren London has been cast as Snoop Dogg’s mother, Beverly Tate.

Production for Snoop begins mid-September in and around Los Angeles. Directed by Craig Brewer, further details about the film remain under wraps.
