The record-breaking success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day has not only revived interest in Tom Holland's previous three movies as the fan-favorite character, but it has also resurrected the forgotten franchise-starter he headlined only a few years ago. In fact, the movie in question received a healthy bump at the box office when it debuted in the wake of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which delivered a shot in the arm to the theatrical marketplace with a $1.9 billion haul in 2021. While it emerged as a solid hit, Holland's 2022 movie appears to have been abandoned, with no firm updates on a sequel. It took several iterations and a revolving door of actors and directors to get the first movie off the ground, but the result didn't exactly move the cultural needle in a significant way.
