Tom Ellis Is Back for Tell Me Lies Season 3, Teases Oliver’s ‘Redeeming Moments’

Tom Ellis, who portrayed Oliver in the second season of the Hulu drama series Tell Me Lies, will return in Season 3. The actor revealed this in a new interview and hinted that his character would have some “redeeming moments” in the upcoming episodes. Created by Meaghan Oppenheimer, Ellis’ real-world spouse, Tell Me Lies premiered on September 7, 2022, with Season 2 airing from September 4, 2024. to October 16, 2024.

Tom Ellis confirms Tell Me Lies Season 3 return as Oliver

Ellis disclosed in a new interview with People that Oliver would be part of the Tell Me Lies Season 3 storyline. While speaking to the outlet at CBS Fest in Los Angeles on May 6, the actor said, “Yes, I’m going back. I’m actually going there on Saturday to start shooting,” He then proceeded to assure the fans that they “will not be disappointed” with the third chapter of the show.

Ellis also revealed that he had already read the scripts for the first four episodes of Season 3. “It is as dark, toxic, and funny as ever,” he elaborated. “And just when you thought our characters couldn’t do anything more ridiculous to themselves, they ended up doing it,” Ellis further stated.

The Lucifer star also mentioned that Oliver would have “a lot of redeeming moments” in Season 3, even though the focus would not necessarily be on him. However, he added, “It still plays very much into the Bree storyline.”

Introduced in Season 2, Oliver develops romantic feelings for Catherine Missal’s Bree. However, at the time, he is married to Gabriella Pession’s Marianne, Bree’s English professor. It complicates the dynamics between Oliver and Bree as well as Bree and Marianne. Further, as Season 2 progresses, it becomes clear that Oliver and Marianne share an open relationship.

Notably, Tell Me Lies Season 3 was announced in December 2024. The cast of the show also includes Grace Van Patten as Lucy, Jackson White as Stephen, and Spencer House as Mike Wrigley.
