Tarantino Meets Greek Tragedy In Prime Video's Revenge Thriller With a Near-Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score

In a year full of surprise breakthroughs and unexpected blockbusters, Is God Isstill managed to slip through the cracks. The dramatic action/thriller, released at the same time as the year's triumphant indie cinema success story, Obsession, marked the debut of writer-director Aleshea Harris, who updated the classic Quentin Tarantino-style bloody revenge saga for 2026. Despite being overshadowed by Curry Barker's word-of-mouth sensation, Is God Is, now available to stream on Prime Video and MGM+, where it is among the top 10 most-streamed films, is ready to be your next indie darling and cult classic. Harris, who adapted her own stage play for the screen, tells the story of tight-knit bonds between sisters, family trauma, feminism, and Black history. As both a gritty exploitation thrill-ride and a somber study of pressing cultural issues, Is God Is — which also features an impressive cast of both newcomers and established stars — is a true one-of-one.
