Netflix’s Squid Game is one of the streaming service’s most beloved and profitable series of all time, so it shouldn’t be too surprising that the second season was such a resounding success. The sophomore year picked up directly after the ending of Squid Game season 1, with the show’s protagonist, Gi-hun, returning to the titular games in order to bring them down from the inside. It also introduced several new characters and fun ideas that broke the mold of the original episodes without feeling too unfamiliar.
