Breaking Bad writer Peter Gould reveals that an AMC executive once asked show creator Vince Gilligan to scrap the character of Saul Goodman. First airing in 2008, the hit crime drama starred Bryan Cranston as Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher who turns to cooking meth to support his family after a terminal cancer diagnosis. Breaking Bad's colorful cast of characters, which includes Aaron Paul as Jesse Pinkman, was a major reason for the show's success, and Bob Odenkirk's Saul Goodman makes his debut in season 2, eventually going on to lead his own spinoff, Better Call Saul.
