Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe Officially Reunited on the Historical Flop Leaving Streaming

The verbal volleys that they have launched against each other in the last few months didn’t come out of nowhere; star Russell Crowe and director Ridley Scott clearly don’t see eye to eye. The problems seemed to escalate when Scott began putting together Gladiator II without Crowe’s involvement. The star, who won a Best Actor honor at the Oscars for his performance in the original Gladiator film, had been trying to mount a sequel for a number of years as well. Scott reasoned that since Crowe’s character died at the end of the first film, he had no reason to be brought back for the sequel. Crowe, on the other hand, expressed annoyance at being excluded from the project when it was being made, and has since criticized it more than once. It has been over 15 years since the two former collaborators worked together, and their parting film is now streaming on Peacock in the United States.
