WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman discussed working with The Rock, emphasizing the challenge of balancing his multiple roles. The Rock joined the Bloodline storyline in 2024. His return to the ring happened on the first night of WWE WrestleMania 40. He teamed with Roman Reigns to defeat Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins.
In early 2024, after returning to WWE, The Rock joined the board of directors for TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of WWE and UFC. Shortly after, he turned heel on WWE TV for the first time in decades. His alliance with The Bloodline and close work with “The Wiseman,” Paul Heyman, created several memorable moments.
The Rock made his return on the premiere night of WWE RAW on Netflix, where he acknowledged Roman Reigns after his match against Solo Sikoa. With the status of “The Final Boss” still uncertain for WrestleMania 41, Paul Heyman recently shared insights into the challenges of working with The Rock in WWE’s creative process.
Paul Heyman opens up about the balancing act of working with The Rock in WWE
Paul Heyman recently spoke to the New York Post about the challenges of working The Rock into WWE’s storylines. He noted that The Rock’s role goes beyond being an in-ring talent. As a board member, his responsibilities extend to the company’s leadership as well.
“There is a leadership by example to be set by someone who’s on the board of directors, much like Dwayne’s responsibilities as just a star of a movie are far different than when he’s one of the executive producers of the movie as well,” Heyman said. “So he’s not just a talent; he’s a member of the board of directors.”
He continued, “And so, there is a process by which creative has to flow seamlessly here, and he has to be part of that seamless flow. There’s a balancing act, and I think he and everyone involved in potential Rock creative are finding that balance.” (H/T: New York Post)
The Rock was last seen on NXT: New Year’s Evil, teasing that he is “20 steps ahead.” His status for WWE WrestleMania 41 remains uncertain, making it intriguing to see what’s next for “The Final Boss.”
