The Florida Panthers made NHL history on October 17, 2026, becoming the first team ever to record a natural hat trick in three consecutive games. The milestone was reached during a dominant 8-3 victory over the Seattle Kraken, marking a historic offensive stretch for the franchise.

A natural hat trick occurs when a player scores three consecutive goals in a single game without any other player from either team scoring in between. The Panthers’ record-breaking streak was fueled by two different players across three games, showcasing a level of individual scoring consistency never before seen in the league’s history.

The Three-Game Streak

The sequence began on October 13, when Brady Tkachuk recorded a natural hat trick against the Columbus Blue Jackets. That performance carried unique historical weight of its own, as his brother, Matthew Tkachuk, provided the primary assist on all three goals—the first time in NHL history siblings have combined for every goal and assist in a natural hat trick. Brady Tkachuk followed that performance with a second consecutive natural hat trick on October 15 in a matchup against the Vancouver Canucks.

Carter Verhaeghe completed the historic trifecta on October 17 against the Seattle Kraken. Verhaeghe’s three-goal burst was the centerpiece of an eight-goal explosion by Florida. While teammate Sam Bennett also recorded a hat trick during the same game, only Verhaeghe’s goals were scored consecutively, satisfying the “natural” requirement to set the league record. According to Daily Faceoff, the Panthers are the first team in over 100 years to record four total hat tricks within their first 10 games of a season, a feat last achieved by the 1922-23 Toronto St. Patricks.

Game Performance vs. Seattle

The 8-3 win over Seattle highlighted a significant gap in execution between the two sides.

The Panthers’ recent scoring surge highlights their offensive performance. By securing four hat tricks in such a short span, Florida has matched a scoring pace rarely seen since the league’s early formative years. The team’s ability to generate consecutive goals from primary scoring threats like Tkachuk and Verhaeghe has moved them into sole possession of this particular NHL record.
