Redemption year is upon Dylan Raiola, and he’s surely working toward it this offseason. Nebraska’s much-touted QB1 will return for his second season after a rocky freshman year. Raiola is taking charge and has already emerged as a leader—the QB is doing everything to have critics warm up to him in 2025. He dropped those extra pounds and is ready to fully live up to his 5-star recruit potential. Raiola is now the face of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He’s making sure to execute all those duties that fall on him with that crown.
“I think Dylan Raiola is going to be a star next year.” That’s what Pat McAfee said about Raiola as a sophomore. The QB threw for an impressive 2819 yards and scored 13 TDs but also threw 11 interceptions. It’s a major wrinkle that he’s trying to smooth out all throughout spring. His efforts are getting results. “He is ten steps ahead of where he was, and where he was, was pretty cool,” HC Matt Rhule lauded Raiola during spring ball. Raiola is locked in on putting forward a better 2025 season, finally showing the football world what he is truly capable of.
Along with working toward becoming a more powerful version of himself, he’s also leading the team upfront. And, he’s also feeding into his Patrick Mahomes obsession, but for a good reason this time. In a May 23 video of Wilson Dittman Sports, the host revealed an interesting update about the QB’s schedule in the offseason. “He will be flying down to Texas with Nebraska’s top five wide receivers to personally train with them and his personal trainer, Jeff Christensen, who’s also the trainer of Patrick Mahomes and a bunch of other high-quality NFL quarterbacks.” From the looks to the fitness, Raiola seems to find a Mahomes inspiration in everything he does.

The WRs heading to Texas are Jacory Barney Jr., Dane Key, Nyziah Hunter, and Janiran Bonner. The last name is TE Heinrich Haarberg, who is definitely an interesting addition. The WR room for 2025 is worth being hyped about and can also be one of the most promising ones in program history. Leading the show is Key, who will be an important target for Raiola. Recording 1,870 yards, 126 receptions, and 14 TDs in his Kentucky career, he is going to be one of the QB’s main receivers. Other names to be excited about are Barney and Bonner. Barney made an impact with his 447 yards in his freshman season along with Raiola. He made an impact by making important plays in the Purdue game.
All of them have to work around Raiola and form a strong rapport with each other and with the QB. “They’ll be working out together, obviously running routes, doing drills,” Dittman said. “But I think one of the most important things with that event is that he’s going to be building a lot of relationships with those players.” Raiola’s getting all the hype he possibly can ahead of his sophomore season. He’s covering all his bases and making sure to work on everything needed to seal the deal for Nebraska’s 2025 campaign.
But 2025 heroics aside, here’s how Raiola is turning more and more into that Patrick Mahomes obsession.
Dylan Raiola x Patrick Mahomes fever hits new highs
Looks, hair, jersey number, and playing style—Dylan Raiola is trying to emulate Mahomes in everything he does. But that’s not all. The Nebraska QB’s latest NIL deal is also something his Kansas City counterpart is a part of. Raiola made waves by partnering with Adidas, which has bumped up his NIL valuation to $2.3 million. “Joining the elite family of athletes at Adidas is a tremendous honor, and their support strengthens the journey as we continue building something special in Lincoln,” Raiola said in a statement. He’s a star in the making, that’s for sure.
Another important crossover of the Mahomes x Raiola hype is also set to occur this season. The Huskers will be playing Cincinnati as the first game of their schedule. And it could not be held at a more iconic venue. Raiola will be lining up on the field at Arrowhead Stadium, which is the home ground for Mahomes, too. This one’s going to be a crossover for the books!
Dylan Raiola knows that the stakes are high this year. He’s fully assumed his new role as a sophomore. The QB is making sure that he is able to develop along with other crucial cogwheels of the offense. Can this be the year that the notion of Raiola being the next Patrick Mahomes sees some grounding?
