Pop icon Madonna made an unexpected appearance at a New York comedy venue this weekend, delivering an impromptu stand-up routine.
The legendary singer visited the establishment with her companion Amy Schumer, as reported by The Sun. Schumer shared a social media snapshot of her seated alongside Madonna at a table marked with a sign stating, “This table is reserved for Comedy Cellar comedians only.”
An image published by The Sun shows Madonna performing in front of the venue’s signature brick backdrop. According to the publication, an insider revealed that the artist’s performance lasted 30 minutes and that “she didn’t do as well as you’d think she would. She got laughs every time she dropped an F-bomb because just hearing Madonna curse is funny.”
The source added, “She also nailed a joke about how with all of these Trump deportations she’s not going to have any staff left, which got some laughs, but really everyone was just so shocked she was there.” Indeed, quite awkward.
On Tuesday (Jan. 28, 2025), the singer voiced her opposition to President Donald Trump and his administration, criticizing the president’s controversial executive orders issued during his initial days in office. “It’s so sad to watch our new Government slowly dismantling all the Freedoms we have been fighting for and WON over the years,” the performer posted on X, accompanied by a Pride flag emoji and a broken heart. “Don’t give up the Fight!”
In November, Madonna had previously expressed her frustration on social media following Trump’s victory over Kamala Harris in the presidential election. “Trying to get my head around why a convicted felon, rapist, bigot was chosen to lead our country because he’s good for the economy?,” she stated in an Instagram story at that time. Madonna also shared an image of a cake decorated with the message, “Fuck Trump.”
