Kamal Haasan is currently ruling the headlines due to the controversial remark he made about Tamil and Kannada. The ace actor received massive backlash as he said that 'Kannada is born out of Tamil' at the audio launch event of his upcoming movie Thug Life. The remark did not go down well with many and now there are protests calling for a ban on the film in Karnataka. The actor is reportedly moving to Karnataka High Court over the boycott threats. Amid all of this, Ram Gopal Varma came out in support of Kamal Haasan and the film. However, he later deleted his post.

Over the Thug Life row, Ram Gopal Varma reportedly tweeted that threats sent to ban Kamal Haasan's movie are nothing but 'hooliganism'. He wrote, "DEMOCRACY's new name is INTOLERANCE..,irrespective of factual correctness , threats to ban #ThugLife in Karnataka unless @ikamalhaasan apologises , amounts to a new kind of HOOLIGANISM." However, the Rangeela filmmaker later deleted the post. It is unclear why the filmmaker removed the post from his social media account.
The latest on Thug Life controversy is that the makers have moved to Karnataka High Court to get the film released in the state without any hindrance amid heavy boycott calls. However, Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) has clearly stated that Thug Life won't release in the state until Kamal Haasan apologises for the remark made. As reported by The New Indian Express, KFCC President Narasimhulu said, "Kamal Haasan is insisting, 'I have not done anything wrong, so I will not apologise.' But if he does not apologise, there is no question of allowing the film to be released."
