One might look at the date at the top of this post and wonder - how is it still January? Has it not been January for approximately 84 years already? Fortunately, Friday is the very last day of this cursed month, and it brings us two new big studio releases and a few smaller ones, too. WB’s Companion is the first of two films this year to test out Jack Quaid’s star power, while Universal’s Dog Man is the first new kid’s movie since Christmas. There are also plenty of rereleases of Oscar-nominated films, so look to your local listings for those.
The films listed are from studios other than the “Big Five” - Universal Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros., Walt Disney Pictures, and Columbia Pictures. Note that some of the movies listed are in their first week or two of limited release in the USA, so it may take them a few more weeks (or months) to show up in your local arthouse theater or on VOD. Check out the posts from the past few weeks for more movies that may have just opened near you: January 24th, January 17th, and January 10th.
