Usually, when a filmmaker knocks it out of the park, either critically or commercially, it is assumed that they will level up with their next project. But, after directing the modern classic Mad Max: Fury Road, director George Miller made an equally ambitious film at a third of the cost. Instead of shooting in the deserts of Namibia and nearly losing his mind, he filmed Three Thousand Years of Longing in the relative security of studios. However, the movie didn't work at the box office, despite having earned mostly positive reviews and shown signs of becoming a future cult classic. It's soon going to be available on Prime Video for new audiences to discover and dissect.
