It's about to take quite a turn weather-wise.It's about to take quite a turn weather-wise.

If you have been hoping that rain will finally hit your area, you may be in luck as the Met Office has forecasted showers and storms across the UK.

Rain isn’t usually a welcome weather change here in the UK but after England and Wales have had their driest Julys on record, some moisture will likely be welcomed in many regions.

While South-East England will remain dry (sorry), these showers are set to cover Northern Ireland, most of Scotland and North-West England. Additionally, yellow thunder warnings are in place today for Northern Ireland and North-East Scotland.

A sigh of relief no doubt for the gardeners among us.

Is summer in the UK finally starting to cool down?

This summer has been a scorcher and a cause for concern for even the biggest sun worshippers among us. The Met Office says: “England and Wales have provisionally recorded their driest July on record, with Southern England seeing its driest month ever recorded, in a series dating back to 1836.

“Wales recorded its joint warmest July on record for mean temperature, with the UK and England their second, and Southern England recording its warmest July on record.”

Though we may be about to experience a good cool-down, as the weather service says: “The week ahead does introduce some more unsettled weather for parts of the UK, though heavy and persistent rain is generally focused on northern areas. Those further to the southeast will continue to see little in the way of rain, though some isolated showers are possible at times in central and southern England.

“Temperatures will gradually decrease in the second half of the week, with any warmth increasingly confined to the far east of England on Tuesday and a return to more average temperatures for many in the second half of the week.”
