The Wheel of Time season 3 has turned Robert Jordan's story on its head, sending Rand al'Thor to the Aiel Waste before he heads to the Stone of Tear. Apparently he made the right choice; the Wise Ones of the Aiel tell him that he would not have survived his battles with the Forsaken and the Dark One had he not come to them first.
