Dolly Parton announced that an autobiographical musical called Dolly will premiere in Nashville this summer with plans to open on Broadway in 2026. No casting has been announced yet, but there will be three actresses playing Dolly at different times of her life.
The show will be directed by Tony winner Bartlett Sher. His Broadway credits include The Light in the Piazza, South Pacific, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Fiddler on the Roof, My Fair Lady, and To Kill a Mockingbird. Dolly Parton and Maria Schlatter are writing the book.
The production will include some of Dolly's existing songs as well as some new songs written for the show.
