DCU Superman Characters Accidentally Confirmed for Peacemaker Finale

James Gunn might have already spoiled the returns of several Superman characters in the Peacemaker Season 2 finale.

What DCU characters are returning for the Peacemaker finale?

Superman is now available on home media. One of the film’s special features is a director’s commentary with Gunn.

In Superman, there is a scene where Lex Luthor and several government figures are convening to discuss how to tame the Man of Steel. Superman and Peacemaker happened to be filming at the same time. Gunn revealed that several Superman actors were featured in a scene from the yet-to-air Peacemaker finale.

“The Saturday after we did [this Superman scene], we shot a scene from Peacemaker [season 2] episode 8, because it had a lot of the same cast from Superman,” Gunn explained (via Gamesradar+). “It had James [Hiroyuki Liao] as Mori and Frank [Grillo] as Rick Flag, and then a couple of other people. I think this will have already aired when this director’s commentary comes out, but I’m not sure actually. I’ll leave the secrets there.”

 James Hiroyuki Liao plays General Mori, the U.S. Secretary of Defense. Frank Grillo portrays Rick Flag Sr., the new acting director of A.R.G.U.S. 

In Peacemaker Season 2, John Cena reprises his role of Chris Smith, the foul-mouthed antihero better known as Peacemaker. “Peacemaker discovers an alternate world where life is everything he wishes it could be,” the official synopsis reads. “But this discovery also forces him to face his traumatic past and take the future into his own hands.”

Besides Cena, Peacemaker Season 2 stars Danielle Brooks, Jennifer Holland, Freddie Stroma, Steve Agee, Robert Patrick, Grillo, David Denman, Sol Rodriguez, and Tim Meadows.

Gunn wrote all of Season 2 and directed multiple episodes, including the upcoming finale.

Peacemaker Season 2 airs on Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO Max. The Season 2 finale is scheduled for October 9, 2025.
