‘American Pie’ star Jason Biggs once climbed into rubbish bin to search for cocaine

American Pie star Jason Biggs has revealed he once climbed into a rubbish bin to get cocaine.

The actor opened up about his past drug struggles in a new interview, sharing that in his 20s, he once threw a bag of the drug away only to try and recover it multiple times.

“One of my craziest stories was, I was doing coke by myself in my house, and I did what I said was the last line,” he said while appearing on the Well with Arielle Lorre podcast. “Its 4 o’clock, I gotta be done, my wife doesn’t know that I’m up doing coke. I gotta get to bed, I have something tomorrow. What am I doing? The worst feeling.

“There was still some coke left in the bag – I gotta get rid of this coke. So what do I do? I throw it in the trash, it started with the trash in my house. Within 15 minutes, as soon as my last bump is wearing off, I’m like, what am I doing?”

Biggs recalled that he went into the trash, took it out and did a line, before throwing it into the outside bins.

“Then I went upstairs and I’m sitting, and I’m like, ‘I’ll take an Ambien now’. Before I took the Ambien, I was like, ‘One more’. I went outside and I climbed into the trash bin and got the bag of coke and went upstairs and did another line. I was like, ‘What the fuck am I doing? This is absolutely insane.’”

The star then proceeded to drive and put it into another bin away from his home, leaving the remains in a Starbucks cup filled with coffee. However, after returning home, he decided to return to that bin, pick up the coke from the cup and snort the remainder.

“I could have easily opened the baggie and dumped it down the toilet, but I didn’t. That’s too final,” he added. “I knew I was going to finish that bag the moment I got it, but I kept playing this game with myself. Why?… That was very close to rock bottom.”

Biggs famously played the role of Jim Levenstein in the American Pie series – the most recent entry of which was 2012’s American Reunion.

Meanwhile, back in 2021 the actor revealed that he turned down the role of Ted Mosby in How I Met Your Mother, which subsequently went to Josh Radnor, admitting it was his “biggest regret”.
