By their very definition, epics are as big as movies get. That size doesn't necessarily guarantee quality, but there's undeniable ambition underlying every single epic film ever made. Say what you will about those epics that seem sloppy, overlong, or boring, but youcannot claim that they were easy to make. For all those epics that do fall short of their ambitions, there are also those that do achieve true greatness.
