Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said Monday, September 22, that a new post-mortem would be carried out as part of the continuing inquiry into the death of singer Zubeen Garg, amid allegations of foul play. The Assam CM announced at a press conference that the autopsy will be conducted at Guwahati Medical College on Tuesday morning, September 23, overseen by a team from AIIMS Guwahati.
Why fresh autopsy has been ordered?
Zubeen's mortal remains will be transported to GMCH at 7:30 AM, according to CM Sarma, and the process should take one to two hours. The family has consented to the procedure, he continued.

Zubeen passed away in a scuba diving accident on September 19, 2025 in Singapore. Zubeen was in Singapore to participate in the three-day North East Festival, which was set to begin on Friday.
