Yuga Labs, the company behind the popular Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collection, has filed a court order to seize cryptocurrency assets from influencer Jeremy Cahen, also known as Pauly0x.

The assets in question total nearly $400,000 spread across four crypto wallets containing Bitcoin, Ethereum, and PEPE coin.

The legal action stems from a 2022 lawsuit in which Yuga Labs sued Cahen and artist Ryder Ripps for trademark infringement. The pair had created and sold a copycat NFT collection which Ripps described as “parody” and protest against alleged hidden Nazi and racist imagery in the original Bored Apes.

In October 2023, the court ruled in favor of Yuga Labs, initially awarding the company over $1.5 million in damages. By February 2024, this amount increased to nearly $9 million, including $7 million in attorneys’ fees and post-judgment interest.

The final judgment became enforceable in March 2024. Since then, Yuga Labs has taken several steps to recover assets from Cahen, including subpoenaing his accountant and serving levies on various banks and crypto platforms such as Bank of America, Chase, Coinbase, and Gemini.

Legal Evasion Tactics

According to court records, Cahen moved $396,946 in cryptocurrency to avoid a levy served to Gemini. Yuga Labs claims this transfer occurred just one day after the levy was issued, suggesting a deliberate attempt to evade asset seizure.

Gemini provided transaction records showing that Cahen moved his crypto into two new wallets. Despite these actions, Cahen maintains he is not obligated to comply with discovery requests while his appeal is pending, even though he has not obtained a formal stay of enforcement.

“Cahen has made a mockery of this Court’s Final Judgement by refusing to pay any portion of the judgment or comply with any post-judgment discovery,” Yuga Labs stated in its recent filing. The company has been taking “affirmative steps under California law” almost monthly since the final judgment to locate and execute upon Cahen’s assets.

Criminal Allegations in Puerto Rico

Beyond his legal troubles with Yuga Labs, Cahen faces more problems. In February 2025, authorities confirmed that Cahen had been added to San Juan, Puerto Rico’s “Most Wanted” list for aggravated assault.

According to local police, fugitives on this list, including Cahen, are considered armed and highly dangerous. An active arrest warrant has been issued for Cahen with bail set at $75,000.

Controversial Crypto Projects

Cahen has built a large online following across social media platforms like Instagram and X (formerly Twitter). He founded the decentralized crypto project Pond0x, which he promoted as an “unstoppable” and permissionless protocol.

Users could mint POND tokens by connecting their wallets. However, the project contained a major security flaw that allowed anyone to transfer other users’ POND tokens. This led many to accuse the project of being either poorly designed or an outright scam.

As security concerns grew, many traders lost money when the token’s value crashed. Despite this, Cahen defended Pond0x as a “social experiment” rather than a typical investment opportunity.

Cahen was also involved in Pork Coin, another project that faced backlash due to allegations of misleading investors. These ventures have raised questions about whether Cahen was simply reckless in his project designs or if he intentionally sought to profit at the expense of retail investors.

Cahen has branded himself as “the most censored man on X” following the suspension of his account last year. His current whereabouts remain unknown as both legal and law enforcement authorities continue their pursuit.
