Young & Restless’ Zuleyka Silver Calls Audra a ‘Survivor’ & a ‘Fighter’

Zuleyka Silver, who plays Audra, celebrated her three years on The Young and the Restless and reflected on her journey in a recent interview. She was introduced as a successful businesswoman on September 23, 2022. She came to Genoa City with a secret agenda and a mysterious past. On her third anniversary on the show, she spoke about her character and her experience on the long-running soap opera.

Zuleyka Silver celebrates three years as Audra on The Young and the Restless

In a conversation with Soap Opera Digest, Silver revealed that she finds playing Audra “fun” and considers her an “interesting” character. She likes how, despite everything Audra has been through, she still stands strong in the face of adversity. “She has a lot of trauma and is a little damaged, but that’s why I love her. She’s a survivor, she’s a fighter, and she doesn’t quit. I just think she’s fascinating, really,” she said.

While Silver feels that her time on the show has gone by quickly, when she looks at Audra’s growth, she believes there is still plenty of room for development. She added, “It feels like it hasn’t been three years, but then it does. I’m like, ‘Wow, time really does fly.’ But then I feel like just now we’re starting to see a little bit of evolution with Audra, when she was a bit vulnerable, and then she kind of went back to her essence. I feel like it feels like three years, but then it doesn’t when I look at her growth. It’s been kind of slow.”

She thinks that Audra’s story on the show has unfolded gradually; therefore, her character development hasn’t progressed much. Comparing Audra’s growth with her time on the show, she explained, “So it feels weird, but then it doesn’t, when I look at her character development versus how long I’ve been on the show. But that’s just the nature, I’m learning, of soaps, right? One day is what, like, seven episodes or something? Sometimes I feel like time has gone by fast outside of the show, but not in it, if that makes sense.”

Moreover, she revealed that her favorite thing about playing her character is the unpredictability of her actions, because it keeps everyone guessing about what’s next for her.
