A new set photo from The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping has surfaced during the film’s production in Germany. Directed by Francis Lawrence, the prequel revisits the 50th Hunger Games and introduces Joseph Zada as a young Haymitch Abernathy. The image highlights a Capitol-style Victor poster that celebrates his victory with a striking propaganda design.

Shared by fan account @thedistrictdispatch on September 22, 2025, the image shows a Capitol-style “Victor” poster featuring Zada in character. The poster bears the words “Our Victor” and depicts Haymitch shortly after his win in the 50th Hunger Games. The photo was captured on location in Germany by @4gewinnt66, offering fans their first glimpse at the actor in the role.

In April 2025, the studio cast Joseph Zada as Haymitch Abernathy, handing him the role that Woody Harrelson originally played in the four Hunger Games films. Harrelson’s Haymitch mentored Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark after winning the Quarter Quell, while Zada’s version portrays the character as a young tribute and victor. The upcoming film adapts Suzanne Collins’ 2025 novel Sunrise on the Reaping, which depicts the 50th Hunger Games, when the Capitol doubled the tributes from 24 to 48 as a punishment twist.

Fan reactions quickly spread across social media after the set photo surfaced. Comments under the post included: “OMG I’m screaming,” “Our victor,” and “Haymiiiiitchhhhhh.” Another fan wrote, “I wake up to this gem? YES PLEASE THG GODS PLZ BLESS ME WITH THIS INCREDIBLE NEWS EVERY MORNING.”

The set photos also highlight the film’s 1960s and 1970s-inspired Capitol design, which features propaganda-style posters, industrial walls, and weathered textures. Alongside Haymitch’s poster, additional glimpses have shown Ralph Fiennes as President Snow and Peacekeeper cars.

Sunrise on the Reaping will explore Haymitch’s Quarter Quell victory, filling the narrative gap between The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and the original trilogy. Francis Lawrence directs the film, which will be released in November 2026.
