Yøhkan Returns to Techno Tehran Records with ‘Knowledge’

This four-track EP finds Yøhkan on a journey of self-discovery, delving deeper into his dark, atmospheric sound with a refined, technically intricate approach.

Canadian producer and DJ Yøhkan has long used music to tell stories. With Knowledge, he takes that approach further, crafting not simply a collection of tracks but one continuous narrative. Each composition feels intrinsically connected to the next, creating a cinematic thread that carries the listener through a diverse melodic techno soundscape.

For this deeply personal exploration, Yøhkan returns to Techno Tehran Records, a label that has become something of a home for his music. Here, he continues his journey of self-discovery, using Knowledge as both a sonic narrative and an intimate reflection of the path that brought him here.

Each track builds on atmospheric foundations, reverberating soundscapes, and driving basslines, while looping layers and carefully arranged synths create a seamless bridge from one composition to the next. From the powerful, cinematic opener “So True” to Yøhkan’s collaboration with Unseen, “New Era,” the transition between tracks feels less like a change of pace and more like the natural progression of a single, unfolding story.

The EP takes a darker turn in its second half with “All This Knowledge” and “Triplet God.” Created alongside Andrea De Cet, the former sinks into a hypnotic groove, while the latter ventures further into psychedelic trance territory. Though a departure from Yøhkan’s usual sound, “Triplet God” serves as a fitting conclusion—expansive and unexpected, yet still unmistakably within his sonic wheelhouse.

Ultimately, Knowledge gave Yøhkan the freedom to venture deeper into his sound, exploring unfamiliar territory without losing sight of his artistic identity. It’s a record about discovery—pushing beyond the familiar while remaining true to the self. To celebrate this release, Techno Tehran Records, along with TOnnel, is hosting a limited-capacity event at a secret Toronto location, the first for the label in over two years.

Knowledge is out now on Spotify and exclusively available for purchase on Beatport. For more information about the release party, DM Yøhkan on Instagram.
