The way the Chicago Sky performed in 2024, one would think the only way is up. However, the Sky have dug deeper as they are unlikely to match their 2024 tally of 13 wins despite a 4-game increase in the total. That is despite having an All-Star Angel Reese for the majority of the season with a seemingly upgraded cast around her. Reese has improved on her rookie year with 14.6 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists. Almost all metrics have seen a rise bar from her boards, which are already the most in the league. However, the team has not improved with her, causing an urgent message from the Sky forward.

“I’m not settling for the same s— we did this year. We have to get good players. We have to get great players. … However, I can help to get the best here, that’s what I’m going to do this offseason.” Reese told Sky beat reporter Julia Poe. While detailing offseason plans, she sent a hint of a move away from the Sky, saying, “I’d like to be here for my career, but if things don’t pan out, obviously I might have to move in a different direction and do what’s best for me.” The threat of the face of the franchise potentially leaving has brought the Sky fandom rallying behind Reese after her harsh words.

There were absolutely no lies told in that interview by Reese. Anyone crying about it doesn’t know ball, or GM’ing. Fuck Jeff and his sycophants in the media, and I’m glad Reese isn’t putting up with another offseason like the last from him. Hopefully he’s fired.
