THE Prince and Princess of Wales’s dog Orla has given birth to quads.

And the royal couple’s children are already said to have fallen in love with the black cocker spaniel’s pups.

A source said: “Mother and babies are doing well.”

But unlike with the arrival of royal tots, there is no official announcement or framed notice on an easel placed outside Buckingham Palace.

And their names have yet to be revealed — and neither has the father’s identity.

Our insider said: “We always thought the patter of tiny feet in the Wales’s household had ended, so the sound of tiny paws will have to do.”

Kate and William’s spokesman has not commented and it is not yet known whether the family — including Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, ten, and seven-year-old Prince Louis — plan to keep the weeks-old pups.

Our insider went on: “Everyone loves a new royal baby news and so new royal puppies run very close.

“Everyone is very excited, not least the three children, who adore Orla, and Lupo before.”

Kate has credited spending time in nature as vital to her cancer recovery and Orla featured in her emotional family video last September when she revealed her chemotherapy was over.

The family got Orla in 2020 as a gift from Kate’s brother James Middleton, who also bred Kate and William’s previous dog Lupo and Orla’s parents.

Yet the much-loved family pet makes only the occasional appearance alongside her royal owners.

Kate and William posted a photo of Orla online for National Pet Day last month with the comment: “Celebrating the animals who bring so much joy, companionship and love to our lives.”

Another rare glimpse came when Orla was pictured in Charlotte’s seventh birthday photos in 2022.

The cocker spaniel’s first public appearance came at a charity polo match several weeks later.

The couple’s first pet dog, Lupo, was a wedding present in 2011 but died in 2020.

James Middleton hailed his own black cocker spaniel Ella for saving his life while in the “depths of depression”, saying she gave him “purpose and reassurance”.

The royals have a long history of owning and breeding dogs.

Last week, Queen Camilla revealed for the first time a photograph of her rescue puppy Moley.

The Sun also exclusively revealed in February the King had his first pooch — Italian truffle hunting dog Snuff — in 20 years.

The late Queen Elizabeth II was known for her corgis and owned more than 30 in her lifetime.
