The Power Book 3: Raising Kanan Season 4’s unexpected finale twist had many wondering if Patina Miller’s Raq could be leaving the show. Introduced in Season 1, she is Kanan’s mother and a strong-headed woman who doesn’t tolerate anyone overstepping boundaries and offers befitting answers to those who underestimate her. However, when her son began to believe that she was behind the murders of his beloved ones, she met a tragic fate. So, is Miller leaving the show, or do the showrunners have plans of creatively bringing her back? Here are the details.

Is Patina Miller’s Raq leaving Power Book 3: Raising Kanan after Season 4?

Power Book 3: Raising Kanan’s Season 4 finale teased Miller’s exit. She is killed by her son, Kanan. While she likely appears dead, there is a possibility that she could come back in flashbacks or cameos. However, neither her exit nor this possibility has been confirmed.

Season 4 concluded on a high note, leaving Raq’s fate undisclosed. At the end, Kanan confronts Raq at her home. He arrives with a gun pointed at her. He has a hard time trusting his mother and believes that she had a hand in killing his beloved ones. However, Raq ensures she clarifies any possible misunderstandings. She mentions that although she had done bad things in the past, she has no association with his latest accusations.

Unconvinced, Kanan believes that his mother is attempting to control him once again. He doesn’t think twice and shoots. The screen then turns black, leaving Raq’s fate on a cliffhanger. It appears that she might have died.

The chances of Miller’s Raq’s demise seem high with series creator Sascha Penn’s latest comments to Deadline. She reveals that “No one is safe, Rosy. Nobody is safe.”

Additionally, she mentioned that Miller’s character would continue to impact other characters’ story arcs, even in her absence. She added, “One of the things we talk about a lot, both on Raising Kanan and also with Power in general, is the existence of characters by proxy. This means that their presence is felt even if they aren’t there in the physical sense, so to speak. Raq has left an indelible mark on the family, so if she’s not there, we’ll still feel her presence if we don’t see her. And that’s how we do it.” However, only the next season will be able to disclose the truth about Raq’s fate.

Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 4 is available to watch on Starz.
