Whoopi Goldberg is set to be absent from several episodes of The View in the coming days. Executive producer Brian Teta revealed when she will return to the popular show and who will be replacing her during her absence.
Reason for Whoopi Goldberg’s break from The View revealed
Teta recently announced that Goldberg won’t be present for some episodes of The View in the coming days during the show’s Behind the Table podcast. He said that she will be gone for two weeks but will be on-air on Mondays. “And then the rest of the weeks, we’re going to have filling in for you some of our old friends, co-hosts from The View. We’re going to have Lisa Ling. We’re going to have Star Jones, Sherri Shepherd, and Debbie Matenoupoulos,” he added.
The TV producer also shared that on days when Goldberg will be absent, moderating duties will be managed by Joy Behar. The former co-hosts will be filling in on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Goldberg will be away from The View because of her involvement in the upcoming Netflix movie Women Like Us, which is currently in production.
The movie centers on a recently widowed woman who heads with her best friends and sister to the Hamptons on the date that was supposed to be her 30th wedding anniversary. During this time, she gets the opportunity to reflect on her loss, marriage, and relationships with her loved ones. Starring alongside Goldberg, the film’s cast includes Vanessa Williams, Vivica A. Fox, and Jenifer Lewis.
It is produced under the banner of Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground and Charles D. King’s MARCO Film Studios. Ali Kinney, known for Ginny & Georgia, and Tracy Oliver, known for Girls Trip, penned the screenplay. The release date for the movie has not yet been revealed.
