Eliot’s daughter, Drue, passed away on Saturday after a five-year battle with cancer, leaving the Eliot family heartbroken. Her courage and spirit touched everyone who knew her, and her passing has rocked the Wolfpack community that stood by her side throughout her fight.

NC State’s official football account released a message of solidarity, writing: “Please join us in praying for DJ Eliot and his family during this time of tremendous loss.” “His daughter, Drue, died after a five-year battle with cancer. Thinking of the Eliot family today,” On3 Sport’s Noah Fleschman wrote on X. With the heartbreaking news, the Elliot family is going through a tough time.

“NC State defensive coordinator D.J. Eliot will not coach against Virginia Tech tonight due to a family emergency.” Eliot will understandably step away from coaching duties against Virginia Tech, with Charlton Warren handling play-calling in his absence. NC State DC Eliot is from Edmond, Oklahoma. Married to wife Miekel, the couple has four children: one son, Dawson, and three daughters. Drue, Page, and Reace. Drue’s passing away has sent the whole community into grief.
