What happened to Fred and Rose West from A British Horror Story?

Rose and Fred’s relationship began when the former served as a nanny to his two young children from a previous marriage. At that time, Fred, who had a troubled past, had already initiated his criminal life. Later, they were married and resided at 25 Cromwell Street in Gloucester, England. In addition to their ten children, the Wests also housed tenants who rented a spare room in their home. Although a former tenant described them as a “loving” couple, their romantic story was quite twisted and disturbing.

Fred harboured a hidden desire for sexual sadomasochism, which was evident when he asked Rose to share an intimate relationship with other men while he watched from afar. The couple had an increasing interest in disturbing sexual acts and violence, often luring victims into their trap, subjecting them to unimaginable horrors, and eventually killing them. They reportedly were involved in the murders of at least 12 individuals. They also didn’t spare their children, with several reported accusations around Rose physically abusing them behind closed doors and Fred sexually assaulting two of his daughters. (via Tudum)

In 1992, they were arrested. However, Fred insisted that Rose wasn’t involved in his heinous crimes, but a neighbor’s confession told a different story. It was later known that Rose was aware and was heavily involved in these crimes.

Fred eventually died in prison by suicide. Although Rose attempted to maintain her innocence, displaying no involvement in her husband’s crimes, she was eventually found guilty and was sentenced to life imprisonment.

Where is Rose West now?

Rose West is currently serving her life sentence at HM Prison New Hall.

After being charged with murder, she filed an appeal, but her appeal was eventually turned down. However, she has continued to deny her wrongdoings to date. The house where the couple lived back then and committed horrible crimes was demolished.
