When is the Black Mirror movie Bandersnatch leaving Netflix, and why?
Black Mirror: Bandersnatch is leaving Netflix due to the latter’s new development program.
For the unversed, Netflix is slowly discontinuing its interactive specials to completely focus on mobile and cloud gaming. The global streaming platform will be revealing its new redesign in the forthcoming days and weeks. Verge broke this news in November 2024. Spokesperson Chrissy Kelleher addressed this development, stating, “The technology served its purpose, but is now limited as we focus on technological efforts in other areas.”
This new redesign will be available across multiple devices, with the testing commencing last year itself. Further, the new UI overhaul was originally planned to receive a global launch later in 2024. However, as per What’s on Netflix, the redesign ended up receiving a lot of negative reviews.
So, the redesign is back in the experiment mode based on feedback, with an update awaited in the future. This new development strategy won’t include interactive special technology, which will lead to the removal of all the specials. As a result, Netflix started sending out departure notices to numerous of its specials. Four of the streaming platform’s original interactive specials were decided to leave in late 2024.
Ranveer vs Wild with Bear Grylls and You vs. Wild were taken off the platform in January 2025. On the other hand, Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend will leave Netflix today, that is, May 12, 2025.
Black Mirror: Bandersnatch has departed Netflix after the premiere of the seventh installment of the show on the platform.
