Many fans of The White Lotus are wondering what happens to the Ratliff family after the dramatic Season 3 finale. It’s clear that the father, Timothy, is facing financial ruin and has been avoiding the truth throughout the season, opting not to tell his wife Victoria and his children, Saxon, Piper, and Lochlan, about their sudden loss in wealth. Fortunately, series creator Mike White has something to say about what’s in store for the Ratliffs after the final scene of the show.

What will happen to the Ratliffs after the Season 3 ending?
According to White, the Ratliffs closed Season 3 with a “bittersweet ending,” saying that it’s unclear “what’s going to happen without their comforts” in the after-show segment for the finale. However, he doesn’t believe “Victoria is someone who can live in poverty” and is sure that she will “come up with some other solution.”
As Victoria pointed out to Timothy, she doesn’t know whether she would want to live if the family lost all of their money. She believes that at her age she’s “not meant to live an uncomfortable life.” More than that, she adds, “I don’t have the will.”
Combined with what White suggests, this means that Victoria will either contemplate taking her own life or attempt to find wealth elsewhere, possibly divorcing Timothy and trying to get another wealth husband. That’s a setup to seeing her again in a future season of the show if there ever was one.
As for Timothy, it’s clear he will likely face prison time after being caught by the FBI and charged with his participation in fraud and embezzlement. Apparently, all of his assets are frozen too, so the financial downfall of the Ratliffs seems inevitable. Still, he has taken the water metaphor from the Buddhist monk to heart and has finally come to terms about what he has to face, especially after seeing Lochlan almost die and realizing that there’s more to life than solely wealth.
That said, out of all the members of the family, Lochlan seems to be the one most capable of living without a house or much money, or at least he says so in the finale. Piper thought she would be able to do the same by living with the Buddhists, but she can’t help but cling to the comforts that come with her privileged upbringing.
Meanwhile, Saxon has the most to lose since his success is tied to his father’s name, but at least it looks like he has broadened his view of love beyond just “getting off,” as Lochlan puts it. It’s unknown whether Saxon will learn what happened to Chelsea, though, but if he does, that might change his perspective of true love even further.
