Frank Castle a.k.a. the Punisher had a tragic origin story in the MCU before meeting Matt Murdock in Netflix's Daredevil and returning in Daredevil: Born Again. Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle made his debut in Daredevil season 2, where the Devil of Hell's Kitchen confronted him over his ultra-violent methods of crime-fighting. Having created an infamous legacy as the Punisher, Frank Castle went to jail, reluctantly collaborated with Wilson Fisk, and joined forces with Daredevil before continuing his self-imposed crusade to eliminate crime on his own terms.
