Revisiting Kim Kardashian’s 2016 Paris robbery

Kim Kardashian testified in a Paris court recently regarding the robbery incident that shook her in 2016. The SKIMS owner was attending Paris Fashion Week that year. During her stay, robbers barged into her hotel room and stole jewelry worth an estimated $10 million. This also included a $4 million ring given to her by her then-husband, Kanye West.

The day was October 6, 2016, at night, when Kardashian was alone in her hotel room in a bathrobe. Although Kourtney accompanied her for Fashion Week, at the time of the robbery, the latter was away from the hotel.

In her testimony on May 13, Kardashian recalled the robbers holding her at gunpoint as they took her ring. They then tied her ankles and hands using zip ties and tape. They also covered her mouth with tape, put her in the bathroom tub, and fled with the jewelry.

According to the Guardian, while expressing her feelings during that moment, Kardashian told the court, “I didn’t understand what was happening. I was naked with a robe on, and I pulled it. I heard one of the men saying forcefully, ‘ring, ring’ a few times over and pointing at his hand.”

She further added, “Everything was exposed … I was certain that was the moment he was going to rape me. I said a prayer. Then he closed my legs and ended up tying them. The gun was still pointed at me. I was certain they were going to shoot me, and it was all over.”

Following the robbery, French authorities arrested approximately 17 people. They charged 12 of them, and 10 are now part of the trial. Authorities have identified Aomar Ait Khedache as the planner of the robbery.
