Rock & Roll Hall of Fame guitarist Carlos Santana was reportedly hospitalized after suffering a medical emergency. The 77-year-old guitarist fell sick while preparing for his concert in Texas. The San Antonio Fire Department noted that his condition was “non-life-threatening.”

Carlos Santana has postponed his Texas concert after reportedly fainting at the sound check at the Majestic Theatre. Emergency crews arrived at the scene around 5 p.m., and the guitarist was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

Later, his manager issued a statement explaining Santana’s current condition. “Mr. Santana was at the [Majestic Theatre] preparing for tonight’s show when he experienced an event that was determined to be dehydration. Out of an abundance of caution and for the health of Mr. Santana, the decision to postpone the show was the most prudent course of action,” the statement read. (via Daily Mail)

However, Santana’s condition has improved. The manager noted that Santana is “doing well.” The Grammy winner is “looking forward to coming back” to San Antonio soon. He also plans to continue his 2025 US tour.

Santana has faced similar health emergencies before. In 2022, he reportedly collapsed on stage at the Pine Knob Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan. The cause of Santana’s collapse was reportedly heat exhaustion and dehydration.

Meanwhile, the guitarist has several tour dates planned for 2025, including his Oneness Tour, which will feature concerts in Tulsa, Nashville, and Thackerville. He will also hold multiple shows in Las Vegas in May.

Santana is also preparing for a special kind of show. He plans to hold a multi-day, multi-act worldwide festival with the utopian perspective of “Woodstock.” Speaking of his new performances, Santana told Billboard, “With everything that’s happening with this planet, with fear of nuclear war and Korea and China and Russia and the Middle East, I want to create a global concert that goes around the world and (promotes) unity, harmony, and oneness.”

The musician wishes to perform at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, New York’s Central Park, and Hyde Park in London. He gushed, “It’ll keep going in Asia, Japan, Singapore, all the way to Australia and New Zealand, and end up with a concert in Honolulu.”
