It’s time for the September 2025 PlayStation State of Play, and as usual, we’re hosting the livestream here for our readers. Unfortunately, there’s no showcase, and this event isn’t exactly what players were looking forward to, but 007 First Light looks like a very promising game, and we think it’s worth checking out.

The event will only showcase 007 First Light, an upcoming action-adventure PS5 game by IO Interactive. It’s a bit of an odd choice by Sony in that the game isn’t coming out until 2026, and we don’t know which half or quarter of the year to expect it in.
Nevertheless, IO Interactive as a developer has rarely ever let us down, so let’s tune in for “over 30 minutes of gameplay featuring a playthrough of Bond’s first mission as an MI6 recruit.” According to Sony, “The action includes everything from high-speed car chases to on-foot stealth sequences and shootouts.”
The event will kick off at 11:00 a.m. PT / 2:00 p.m. ET. Sony says that IO Interactive will be talking about its espionage gameplay following the showcase, so taking that into account, you’ll need to set aside more than just 30 minutes.
Here’s hoping we get a more narrow release window at least.
