CORONATION Street’s Max Turner’s final scenes have aired tonight and they are heartbreaking.

The troubled teen – who is played by actor Paddy Bever in the ITV soap – was sentenced to six years in prison for arson having set fire to his house in a botched insurance job.

His life in prison had been threatened by gangster Harvey, forcing dad David to take drastic action to pay him off.

Max found himself being moved to a prison in Scotland where he’s being kept safe.

Speaking to David on the phone tonight he said: “Fine, better than I expected to be honest.

“You can stop worrying. I’m fine, I just haven’t heard anything about Harvey which is good so hopefully that’s all sorted.”

But before David could tell Max what had happened, Lily snatched the phone and began telling her brother all about the gossip from her school.

It gave Shona and David a time to properly speak and decompress until Lily brought the phone back.

Max then told him: “It’s fine. I’m not going to pretend it’s nice in here, but it’s OK. I’m OK, I’m good.

“And I’m going to keep my head down and get through it.”

“That’s really good that Max,” David replied.

“I’m glad to hear it. I love you Max.”

“Love you too dad,” said Max as he said goodbye and sat alone in his cell.

The scenes mark the end for Paddy’s stint on the cobbles as Max after the actor quit after four years playing the troubled teen.
