President Trump weighed in on the LeBron James-Michael Jordan debate on who will go down as the GOAT in the Oval Office on Friday.
Trump reasoned that James is either a “racist” or he just “doesn’t like Trump” after noting that Jordan is “a really good guy.”
James, a notorious Trump hater and China lover, has put himself at the forefront of political and social issues like Black Lives Matter. He has previously said that he, at one point, wanted “nothing to do with white people.”
Fox’s Peter Doocy asked the President if he thinks Michael Jordan or LeBron James is the best basketball player of all time.
“Well, Michael Jordan is a guy that’s a friend of mine, I play golf with him, he’s a really good guy,” Trump said.
“I think LeBron is maybe he’s a racist, or maybe he doesn’t like Trump, I don’t know. I only like people that like me,” he continued.
“So, I would say Michael Jordan all the way.”

The remark came during an announcement on American nuclear energy alongside Secretary of Energy Chris Wright, Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum, White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Director Michael Kratsios, and representatives from the nuclear industry.
The President announced the success of his pilot program for advanced reactors under a May 2025 executive order, which has already led to the construction and criticality of three “cutting-edge reactors” before July 4.
Michael Kratsios described the President’s push for nuclear energy as “one of the most ambitious goals in nuclear history,” noting that “The last time that a privately funded new reactor design went critical was in 1974.”
