V/H/S/Mixtape Poster Promises Melting Faces & High Body Count in Horror Franchise’s New Movie

V/H/S/Mixtape has recently dropped its first look poster. The poster promises gory horror with melting faces and a high body count in the upcoming project.

The poster from Shudder catches the horror elements of the movie just right. It features a skull embedded in the middle of what appears to be a single-lined page. Interestingly, the skull’s lower half is melting away as part of its jaw is falling apart. A cassette tape can be spotted in front of the skull, placed in a manner so that its reels align perfectly with the skull’s eye sockets. Adding further to the gory image, the reels can be seen entangled with the lower jaw and teeth, as they melt. There is also writing on the poster that says, “Low Fidelity High Body Count.”

V/H/S/Mixtape is co-written by Matt Landsman, Zoe Cooper, RZA, Ernest Dickerson, and David Moreau. The movie is produced by Josh Goldbloom, Steven Schneider, Roy Lee, Michael Schreiber, and Brad Miska. Ben Ross and Rami Yasin are the executive producers.

It is the ninth installment in the long-running found-footage horror franchise, scheduled to premiere on Shudder on October 9, 2026.

V/H/S/Mixtape brings together four new stories where music becomes a source of terror

The latest installment features four different horror stories from four filmmakers. Ernest Dickerson, RZA, David Moreau, and Renee Zhan have joined hands in this project. Each story used the found-footage style while also pushing the boundaries to make the events appear like they were captured on real recordings. Creators are also exploring sound to build on the element of fear.

The official synopsis of V/H/S/Mixtape reads, “V/H/S/MIXTAPE cranks the franchise’s signature found-footage horror up to eleven with an electrifying new anthology where music and sound become the source of terror.”

The preview further narrates, “United by a theme that explores the power of music, rhythm, and audio to haunt, possess, transform, and destroy, the film blends cosmic horror, psychological suspense, outrageous splatter, and groundbreaking practical effects into one unforgettable mixtape of nightmares.”
