The country-pop trio – Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele – are the first girl-group to represent the UK since Precious finished 12th in 1999. Since then, the UK has only cracked the Top 10 on three occasions, most recently when Sam Ryder came second three years ago.

Last March, the group released ‘What the Hell Just Happened?’, which later became their first song to amass over one million streams on Spotify.

Earlier today (April 25), they issued a cover of ‘Husavik (My Hometown)’, a song composed for the 2020 comedy film, performed by its star Will Ferrell and Molly Sandén, who sang the parts for the character played by Rachel McAdams. Like the film, the music video for ‘Husavik (My Hometown)’ was shot in the Icelandic city.

“We’ve never seen anywhere as beautiful with our own eyes! It was the most emotional we’ve ever been from the second we took off to the moment we left,” the band shared in a press statement. “We were crying because it was just the most incredible experience.”

The cover “is special for us,” they continued, “as it makes us think about our hometown and the fact that we’ve been friends for such a long time. The song feels quite nostalgic and that’s how we feel a lot of the time about our friendship.” Watch it below.

The trio have been singing together since they met at sixth form college in 2012. They competed on The Voice UK in 2019, built a sizable TikTok following during the pandemic, and embarked on a sold-out UK tour last year.

‘What the Hell Just Happened?’ features Queen-influenced glam rock guitars and power-pop drums as well as their trademark vocal harmonies – it sees the trio move away from country-leaning previous singles such as last year’s ‘Laugh About It’ and ‘What The Girls’ Bathroom Is For’.

Remember Monday are set to compete at The Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest, which will air live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on May 17.

On the group’s contest goals, Byrne revealed to NME that they “have a deal with our entire team – like, 30 people have shook on this deal – that if we finish in the top five, everyone is getting a ‘WTHJH?’ tattoo.”
