Authorities seized approximately 145 associated domains and cryptocurrency funds used to facilitate the marketplace’s illicit operations.
Launched in March 2022, BidenCash rapidly became a major player in the underground economy, amassing a user base of over 117,000 customers. The platform enabled the trafficking of more than 15 million compromised credit card numbers and other personally identifiable information (PII), generating more than $17 million in revenue during its lifespan. Administrators charged a fee on every transaction, turning the site into a profitable criminal enterprise.
To attract new users, the operators of BidenCash periodically released free stolen data. Between October 2022 and February 2023, they published 3.3 million stolen credit cards as a promotional stunt. The leaked data included full card numbers, expiration dates, CVV codes, cardholder names, addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers.
In addition to financial information, the marketplace sold access credentials to compromised computers, posing an even broader cybersecurity threat.
As part of the coordinated effort, the seized domains are now being redirected to a U.S. law enforcement-controlled server, effectively dismantling the network and preventing future access. The operation also included the court-authorized seizure of cryptocurrency assets tied to BidenCash’s illegal profits.
“This action sends a clear message to cybercriminals: the United States will not tolerate the exploitation of stolen data and payment information,” said U.S. Attorney Erik S. Siebert.
The investigation was spearheaded by the U.S. Secret Service’s Frankfurt Resident Office, the agency’s Cyber Investigative Section, and the FBI’s Albuquerque Field Office. The Department of Justice also credited international partners including the Dutch National High Tech Crime Unit, The Shadowserver Foundation, and Searchlight Cyber for their critical support.
The BidenCash takedown represents one of the largest coordinated crackdowns on an online carding operation in recent years.
