If you own a Samsung device, you’re in luck. Because you’ll have access to hundreds of TV shows, channels and movies that others have to pay for on different streaming platforms.

Just like other popular free streaming services such as Tubi, Pluto TV and Plex, Samsung TV Plus is an ad-supported app that lets users watch its content library at no extra cost.

Not only is it entirely free, but there’s no subscription or sign-up required. All users need is an internet connection and a Samsung smart TV made in 2016 or later.

The streaming service is also available on Samsung Galaxy mobile devices operating on Android 8.0 or higher.

Users don’t have to create an account to access Samsung TV Plus, but those who do get additional features such as continue watching, favourite channels, watch reminders and watch lists. It’s also possible to remove channels from the app.

The streaming service is already integrated into smart TVs, while the app can be downloaded onto mobile devices through the Galaxy Store or Google Play app store.

What to watch on Samsung TV Plus

Samsung TV Plus has over 200 channels to choose from, with more content added on a regular basis.

This month, two new channels — Antiques Road Trip and Escape to the Country — have been added, offering round-the-clock access to the popular shows.

Other channels include British TV classics like Pointless, 8 out of 10 Cats and The Graham Norton Show, while the reality TV offering includes Dragon’s Den and Project Runway (currently only available on Hayu), as well as America’s Got Talent and American Idol — both of which aren’t available to stream anywhere else in the UK.

There’s plenty of crime, documentary and nature channels, and news channels include Sky News and GB News as well as others from the US and Europe.

Sports fans can enjoy Sky Sports (usually only available with a Sky or Now TV subscription), talkSport, FIFA+ and more.

And Samsung TV Plus keeps its content fresh by adding new shows and movies to mark special events.

For Pride Month, documentary City of Queens has arrived on the service, exploring the unfiltered stories of drag performers, along with the ITV comedy Vicious, starring Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi.

In film, new additions include survival thrillers and dystopian dramas (perfect for those missing The Last of Us), including Cell, Man Down and The Recall — all three of which are currently only available to rent on Apple TV Plus elsewhere.

Hacksaw Ridge, The Intern, A Simple Favour, The Big Short and Love, Simon are also all new on Samsung TV Plus this month.

On Reddit, users have praised Samsung TV Plus for its variety, with one calling it ‘better than cable’.

Apoarenas0204 said: ‘I like it. It’s free and has so many channels listed to choose from, movies, music, cooking, travel, weather, etc, etc. It has practically everything. Stingray is my favourite.’

Wegotthisonekidmongo added: ‘I literally use it everyday, it’s the best thing. It’s even better than cable TV in my opinion, with more variety. Definitely worth every penny to buy the TV for.’

And Kiki_Kazumi said: ‘I love it for my toddler. There are a bunch of channels specifically geared towards tots! The only issue is he’s so used to watching on streaming devices like Netflix that he isn’t used to commercial breaks and starts to fuss sometimes.’

Others praised the service as perfect for background TV.

Drv687 revealed: ‘I like it for background noise/something to be on when I can’t think of anything else,’ and kjtstl echoed, ‘I like having the TV on low in the background and I love that I can just throw it on American Pickers channel or whatever I feel like watching’.

Another user said: ‘The Bob Ross channel is my constant background’.

But if you don’t have a Samsung device, there’s little reason to feel left out, as many users have compared Samsung TV Plus to other free streaming services like Tubi and Pluto TV, which can be accessed with other brands of smart TV.

Handymanct explained: ‘Samsung TV Plus is not exactly like regular TV. It is very much like Pluto TV, Tubi TV, and Plex TV,’ and Boz6 added, ‘It’s simply a service similar to Pluto, Tubi, Plex, etc.’

Another user said Samsung TV Plus is ‘not a real Pluto TV or Tubi contender’.
