Tube strikes force cancellation of major concerts at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Ahead of the London Tube strikes, two Post Malone concerts at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium have been rescheduled.

Starting on Sunday, members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport Union (RMT) will stage a five-day walkout, with little to no services running.

Consequently, several major events have had to be moved, which included Coldplay’s final two Wembley concerts of their Music of the Spheres World Tour, originally due to take place on September 7 and 8.

Today, Live Nation announced that the strikes have further impacted 30-year-old American singer Post Malone’s world tour, with the Better Now hitmaker also due to perform in the capital this coming Sunday and Monday.

A statement shared on social media read: ‘We’re sorry to announce that, due to planned strikes on the London Underground, we’ve been forced to reschedule the two Post Malone concerts at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

‘Without a Tube service, it’s impossible to get people to the concert and home again safely, and therefore no event licence can be granted for the nights of 7th and 8th September.’

Have the concerts been postponed?

Organisers confirmed that Post Malone’s Sunday, September 7, show will move to Saturday, September 20, while the September 8 show will move to Sunday, September 21.

All existing tickets will remain valid for their rescheduled date.

‘Any ticket holders who are unable to attend their rescheduled show can get a full refund on their ticket, and are requested to contact their point of purchase before 10am BST on Monday 8th September,’ they explained, with refunds sent out within 14-21 days.

For those who missed out on tickets the first time around, any returned tickets will then be put on general sale at 10am BST on Tuesday, September 9, via Ticketmaster.

What other concerts have been affected?

Also due to licensing issues around the event, Coldplay announced on August 30 that their Wembley shows had to be moved, having sold over 12million tickets for their tour in a record-breaking feat.

Chris Martin and co. said in a message online that it would be ‘impossible to get 82,000 people to the concert and home again safely’.

‘To avoid cancelling the shows, our only option is to reschedule.’

The Yellow hitmakers moved their September 7 gig to an earlier slot on September 6 and their September 8 show to September 12.

Thankfully, the band was still able to perform their other London concerts at the end of August and on September 3 and 4 to crowds of thousands of adoring fans wearing light-up bracelets.

Meanwhile, Post Malone is currently touring across Europe with his hit 2024 album F-1 Trillion, which features collaborations with county music legend Dolly Parton, Tim McGraw, Morgan Wallen, and Chris Stapleton.

There’s also a duet called Losers with musician Jelly Roll, who is supporting Post Malone, real name Austin Richard Post, on the road.

Their track together features in the set list for the world tour, along with other hits Sunflower, Rockstar, I Had Some Help, and Circles.
