Official ‘Trump 2028’ hats and shirts have gone on sale in the clearest indication yet that President Donald Trump may seek an unprecedented third term.
The Trump Store put the hat in the signature MAGA red color with white lettering on sale on its website on Thursday. The Trump 2028 Hat is $50 and features an embroidered front and an American flag embroidery on the side.
‘Make a statement with this Made in America Trump 2028 hat,’ reads the description. ‘Fully embroidered with a snap closure in the back, this will become your new go-to hat.’
In addition, the Trump Store is selling $36 Trump 2028 shirts in red and blue with white ‘Trump 2028’ white lettering, along with the glaring phrase, ‘(Rewrite the Rules)’.

‘The future looks bright!’ states the description. ‘Rewrite the rules with the new Trump 2028 t-shirt.’
Both items are ‘Made in America’.
The president’s second eldest son Eric Trump, who serves as a Trump Organization executive vice president, shared a photo of himself wearing the hat on Instagram.
In the post, he included a screenshots of an email from a reporter asking if it was listed because his father intends to seek a third term. ‘It is so easy…’ wrote Eric, along with a rolling on the floor laughing emoji.

Eric also drew an arrow to a section in another reporter’s email stating that President Trump is term-limited after two terms and asking if 2028 referred to another family member. The first son added a man shrugging emoji.
Finally, Eric shared a post by an X user stating that he was ‘trying to usurp power from Don Jr, who is first in line in the Trump family presidential succession’, and mentioned his older brother and remarked, ‘Sorry Don!!!’
While it is not clear what exactly the hat means, the shirt’s ‘rewrite the rules’ message suggests the merchandise is meant to support the 78-year-old president making a bid to stay in the White House. Trump would be 82 years old at the end of his second term.
The 22nd Amendment of the US Constitution states that ‘no person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice’.

But in a March interview with NBC, Trump refused to rule out going for a third term.
‘You know, we’re very popular and you know, a lot of people would like me to do that,’ he said at the time, adding that ‘there are methods’ to go about it.
Trump supporters have claimed there is a loophole in the amendment because it does not address ‘succession’. They claim that Trump could be a vice presidential running mate to another candidate, like his Vice President JD Vance, and that the candidate could win the election and immediately resign and allow Trump to take over by succession.
Regarding the hat, Trump Organization spokesperson Kimberly Benza told the New York Post that they put it on sale ‘because it’s amazing’.
