The breach began at 9:25 A.M. PST, when a hacker used the account to post a suspicious smart contract address and began sending direct messages to followers.
TRON DAO later revealed that the attacker had manipulated a team member to gain access, using the compromised account to promote a fraudulent contract and interact with users in an attempt to widen the scam. TRON quickly regained control and issued a warning:
“TRON DAO will never post contract addresses or send unsolicited DMs.”
The team advised users to disregard any messages from the account during the breach.
