I decided I wanted to share my top 5 series or anything that involves more than one book to complete the story. Please let me know in the comment section if you’ve read any of them or which ones you like……I’d be happy to discuss any of these with you (you can also share other things that you think should be added to this list).
Number 5 is the Gotcha! series by Wayne Hancock. This series follows a group of people that helps the sheriff solve a murders. Each book focus’ on a different murder that occurred and the reader gets to watch the group of friends try to bring the murderer to justice. If you are a fan of mystery and/or probably like stuff from Agatha Christie then you’d probably like this. (This series is probably more for adults only.) Number 4 is the Crave series by Tracy Wolff. The series begins with Grace moving to Alaska to attend a school run by her uncle and she doesn’t think she belongs at this school to begin with. This series has been described as “Harry Potter meets Twilight” when I stumbled across this series and I think that description is fitting. Universal Studios has purchased the rights to make this into movies but I haven’t heard any news if the movies will be made or not. If you like fantasy and romance mixed together then you’d probably enjoy this. (This series is listed as young adult/teenager…….I would probably say about 8th or 9th grade and up.) Number 3 is the Empyrean series by Rebecca Yarros. I initially didn’t get into this series until a customer told me about the books and said that they finished the first book within a couple of days. I thought that was an amazing feet given how thick the books are. The series follows Violet as her mother sends her to a war college to become a dragon rider instead of letting Violet become a scribe like her father. Once Violet gets to this college though I feel like nothing goes the way it’s suppose to so it’s up to Violet to figure things out. If you are interested in high fantasy novels with romance mixed in, then you might like this series. (This series is probably more for adults only based on certain scenes.) Number 2 is the Stoneheart trilogy by Charlie Fletcher. I read this trilogy several years ago but it has remained one of my favorites since. The series follows George, a 12 year old boy, who goes on a field trip to the Natural History Museum with the rest of his class. When George finds himself sitting on the front steps of the museum, he ends up breaking a statue and that sets off a chain of events sending George into a different layer of London where statues can move and talk (and by the way, the rest of London can’t see or hear George……they just go on about their business like nothing has happened.) This is a good coming of age story for middle grade readers, if you’re interested. Number 1 is the Harry Potter series. This story probably needs no introduction as popular as it is. I have the entire series that I’ve read from start to finish and I plan to read all the books again once I’ve collected all the illustrated editions of the books (I have 1 through 5, just waiting for them to make 6 and 7). Even though my husband isn’t a reader, I’ve managed to get him to watch the movies with me. He even told me recently that he knows more about Harry Potter than he should. I actually got a late start to this series…….I didn’t start reading it till around the time the 5th book was coming out, or it was right after. An honorable mention would probably be the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini. That one almost made it on this list by a fraction of a hair. I’ve read Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr and Inheritance……I have Murtagh but I haven’t read it yet. My hubby has mentioned repeatedly to read Murtagh so I can tell him what happens in that book. My hubby saw the movie based on Eragon and thought it was a good movie……until I told him about all the stuff that got left. Then he understood why I was so disappointed with how the movie turned out.
