Tom Cruise has insisted it was no walk in the park to undergo the physical transformation required for his latest film role.
During a new interview on The Graham Norton Show, the Oscar nominee opened up about what went into making his new movie Digger – including six hours’ worth of makeup and prosthetics work.
“Let me make it clear – none of that is me!” he quipped. “The makeup was taking so long that I decided to get it down from six hours to one – it was like a ballet getting everything in place.”

Speaking more generally about the role, Tom teased: “My character is outrageous and unpredictable. He says things that others may be thinking and never say.”
He continued: “It’s a timeless story about power, greed, and ego framed in a very timely manner by Alejandro G. Iñárritu – one of the greatest filmmakers of all time.
“I’ve never read a script like it, and I have never seen a character like Digger.”

Co-starring John Goodman, Sandra Hüller, Jesse Plemons and Riz Ahmed, the film was helmed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, whose past work includes the Oscar-winning Birdman and The Revenant.
Tom is already at the centre of Oscar buzz for his performance in the disaster movie, although early reactions on social media indicate that the film itself could be about to become one of 2026’s most divisive big-screen offerings.
