Tom Cruise recently took to social media to promote Ryan Coogler’s Sinners, encouraging audiences to watch the film in theaters. The Mission: Impossible star shared a post of himself holding a ticket in front of a Sinners movie poster. In his caption, he congratulated Coogler and the entire cast.
He wrote on Instagram, “Congratulations Ryan, Michael, and to the entire cast and crew. Must see in a cinema and stay through the end credits!” This remark referred to two special scenes at the film’s conclusion. Michael B. Jordan, who plays dual roles in the film, responded to Cruise’s post with a message of gratitude. In the comments section, Jordan wrote, “Thanks for the love and support!!!”
Sinners has proven to be both a critical and commercial success. The film has earned over $161 million globally on a $90 million reported production budget and has received an A CinemaScore, the highest grade for an R-rated horror film. The movie follows Jordan as the twin brothers who return to their hometown only to face a terrifying supernatural force.
Coogler, known for his work on Creed and Black Panther, intended Sinners to be a standalone film. He previously told EBONY, “I wanted the movie to feel like a full meal: your appetizers, starters, entrées and desserts. I wanted all of it there. I wanted it to be a holistic and finished thing. That was how I was asked all about it. That was always my intention.”
The movie is currently playing in theaters.
